Finding a good match in your therapist can feel daunting. There are many to choose from and lots of promises that they can help you (I am guilty of doing this too).
It can feel overwhelming to navigate the various letters after their names or the types of therapy they offer.
Many people give up before they even get started.
It’s important to me that the clients I work with feel confident that I am the right fit for them. Especially because therapy is a significant investment of time, energy, and money. And often they are sharing things they may have never said out loud before.
What working with me actually feels like…
As my client you can expect to
Feel listened and highly attuned to
Be asked to consider other perspectives
Be invited to take personal responsibility
Be encouraged to stay close to your emotional experience
How to assess therapeutic fit…
Our therapy relationship is working if you
Feel comfortable sharing difficult things with me
Find yourself thinking about what we discussed between sessions
Have confidence that I am hearing, understanding, and absorbing what you share
Can more easily name what is happening in your mind and body
Are navigating experiences of rupture and repair together with me
